So we’ve reached the end of the term for our stained glass class and the current state of play on my mermaid is as above. I had high hopes of getting the water behind her done but it wasn’t to be as progress was substantially slowed by the water lilly
I had cut all the pieces but the glass had marks all over it where it looked to have been etched into. Not good. I had selected the water glass for the petals so the lines would flow out (in patchwork I guess you’d call this fussy cutting) so I had to pick out another bit of glass where these lines were strong. Fortunately on the second attempt the glass remained unscratched and I was able to copper foil the lilly and get it soldered together. While I was doing this other members of my class were making storming progress. Vicky finished her panel (the pictures don’t do this justice, its stunning)
Lucy made massive progress on her cross and side sections
Angela finished her Minion
And there were some other very beautiful finished panels
Not all of us finished but Claire and I will be back next term to have another go
